CMS Research, Statistics, Data & Systems- Minimum Data Sets 2.0 Software Specifications- HTML Version of MDS Version 1.30 Correction 3 Data Specs

Guidance for Minimum Data Sets 2.0 Software Specifications regarding HTML Version of MDS Version 1.30 Correction 3 Data Specs (CMS Research, Statistics, Data & Systems).

Issued by: Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)

Issue Date: February 27, 2012

An HTML version of the MDS Version 1.30 Correction 3 Data Specs is now available. This HTML version will enable you to view the MDS data specs interactively on either a local drive or on a server using a standard browser.

The HTML files contain exactly the same information included in the PDF version of the data specs. In addition, the HTML pages display the text and response options for each of the MDS data items. An index list on the left-hand side of your browser screen allows you to move quickly from field to field, and the field summary allows you to view information such as field length for all fields at once. Finally, any fields mentioned in consistency checks are hyperlinked, meaning that you can click on these references to view information about the field listed.

We plan to continue distributing future versions of the data specs as PDF documents, but expect to supplement these with HTML versions.

The HTML files are contained in a ZIP file called mds130c3_html.zip. To use the HTML files, extract all of the files in the ZIP file to a new folder. You can then open the file INDEX.HTML in the new folder to begin browsing the data specs. On most computers, you should be able to simply double-click on INDEX.HTML to activate your browser and open the file.

The HTML files have been tested with Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Netscape Navigator.
