Guidance for FAQ regarding Edge Server Operations and Other

Issued by: Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)

Issue Date: April 20, 2016

Question: Can I delete or alter data in my EDGE server tables?

Answer: CMS does not allow issuers to delete or alter data in EDGE server tables as indicated in the October 2, 2014 "EDGE Data Management" webinar. In order to maintain the integrity and traceability of the data collection process, issuers will not be allowed to delete or make modifications to individually stored records in the MySQL data tables. If during the audit, it is identified that data was deleted or altered, issuers may be subject to civil money penalties under 45 CFR 153.740.
