Enrollment and Eligibility (ENR) FAQ
Guidance for FAQ regarding Enrollment and Renewals
Issued by: Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
Issue Date: June 04, 2018
Program Area: Enrollment and Eligibility (ENR)
Question: Since customers who failed to reconcile taxes will experience a loss of Advance Premium Tax Credit (APTC) and will be eligible for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP), if the customer later reconciles their taxes and reapplies to received APTC, will the process follow the 15th of the month rules or will the customer's APTC eligibility be restored mid-month?
Answer: After submitting documentation consumers who are eligible for a SEP and reconcile their taxes and reapply to receive APTC will follow the 15th of the month rules. CMS strongly encourages consumers to return to the Marketplace and update their application before the 15th for APTC to be restored the first of the next month.
