Guidance for Medicare Approved Facilities/Trials/Registries on the Carotid Artery Stenting Facility Recertification Process.

Effective 10/11/2023, facilities are no longer required to be approved by CMS to perform carotid artery stenting (CAS) procedures under the Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty (PTA) Concurrent with Stenting of the Carotid Artery National Coverage Determination (NCD 20.7).
Additionally, CMS will no longer update the list of approved CAS facilities on the CMS website and will remove the website at a future date.
Note: Under the updated NCD, facilities must meet the institutional and physician standards specified in the final decision memorandum for coverage.
