Payment for Certified Nurse-Midwife Services

This instruction is being updated to reflect the increased Medicare Part B
payment amount for certified nurse-midwife (CNM) services from 65 percent of the physician fee schedule
to 100 percent of the physician fee schedule amount that would be paid for the same service furnished by a
physician.
Payment for CNM services is also increased when furnished to patients in critical access hospitals that are
paid under the optional method.
