Speaker Barbara Bierer, MD, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS), Faculty director, Multiregional Clinical Trials Center of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard, Director, Regulatory Policy, SMART IRB, Director, Regulatory Foundations, Ethics, and Laws, Harvard Clinical and Translational Science Center discussed the role of the IRB and HRPP in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion; health literacy; participant payment; and the return of research results. Dr. Bierer introduced resources and tools developed by the MRCT Center to assist IRBs and HRPPs in their work. This presentation was delivered at the OHRP Research Community Forum co-sponsored with the Indiana University Office of Research Compliance in September 2022.
