Communications Director, White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI)
Andrew Peng serves as Communications Director at the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. In this role, he is responsible for driving WHIAANHPI’s comprehensive media strategy and promoting executive branch efforts to advance equity, justice, and opportunity for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) communities. Prior to joining the Initiative, Andrew co-founded The Yappie, a nonprofit newsroom dedicated to tracking the policy news and activism affecting AA and NHPIs. He also worked and interned with various government agencies and nonprofits, including the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology, Asian Americans Advancing Justice - AAJC, and OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates. A San Diego, California native and the son of immigrants from Taiwan and China, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Political Science from Rutgers University-New Brunswick in New Jersey.
