Helen Beaudreau
Executive Director, White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI)
Helen Beaudreau is the Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders and the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders. Previously, she was the Deputy Director of Congressional Relations at the Peace Corps, and most recently, a Director for Legislative Affairs at the National Security Council at the White House. Prior to joining the Biden-Harris Administration, she was a senior congressional staffer for nearly a decade, including as Legislative Director for Congresswoman Grace Meng (D-NY), and Senior Policy Advisor for (fmr.) Congressman Mike Honda (D-CA). During her time on Capitol Hill, Helen oversaw and successfully steered legislative priorities on equity, gender, justice, and human rights, including a number of key legislation that empowers the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. Helen has also worked at the World Bank, and a non-profit organization that empowers AA and NHPI students in higher education. And she is a two-time Peace Corps Volunteer – having served in the Republic of Georgia and the Philippines.
A first-generation Korean American who is also the first in her family to attend secondary school and college, Helen received her B.A. in English Literature from U.C. Santa Barbara, plus dual degrees in M.P.A. and M.A. in International Relations from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. She is fluent in Korean and Georgian, and lives in Vienna, VA with her husband and two children.
